Newborn Care

Newborn resuscitation and early life care are core components of the scope of care of a full spectrum family physician. We provide a busy Level One nursery experience including delivery room resuscitation experience with low- and high-risk deliveries, NICU consult exposure for evaluation of the sick infant and lactation/breastfeeding support. We work very closely with our neonatal intensive care unit providers when evaluating our littlest patients for conditions like neonatal abstinence syndrome, jaundice, hypoglycemia, and sepsis. We also attend deliveries to provide neonatal resuscitation when necessary. Furthermore, our service performs frenotomies and newborn circumcisions in the hospital.
