Become a Community Partner
As part of our promise “to make healthcare work for you” we believe being a collaborative community partner is a part of that commitment. We know Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center employees make an enormous impact through their volunteer service, both in and outside of our campus walls, making our communities stronger and healthier places to live and work.
If you are an organization in need of volunteers and would like to share your service opportunity with EMMC employees, please click here to submit your request for consideration.
To be approved, program and activity requests for volunteers need to align with our NL EMMC mission and values and/or address a community health need such as improving access to health care services, enhancing public health, advancing or increasing medical knowledge and relieving the burden of government to improve health.
Here are a few examples of community benefits that we are excited to support:
-
Community Health Education like health fairs, CPR certification classes for the community, and support groups related to a community need.
-
Community Based Clinical Services such as physical and behavioral health screenings, immunization clinics for the community, school or physical clinics, dental care services.
-
Health Care Support Services including community support referral services, enrollment assistance in public health programs, personal response systems, medical and mental health hot-lines, and transportation.
-
Social, environmental, and community improvement activities such as expanding healthy food options, support of or involvement in violence prevention, contributions to community-based assisted living and senior and low-income housing projects, Food Banks, Soup Kitchens, mentoring programs to improve graduation rates or to vulnerable populations and neighborhoods, working with homeless shelters and other shelters in the area.
