Best practice studies have long shown that patient outcomes are significantly improved when patients are educated and prepared prior to surgery. Below you will find information on our preoperative education as well as post surgical surveys. If you have any questions regarding these resources, please call us at 207-553-6295.
Joint Camp
Once you have made the decision to have your joint replaced, you can be confident that you will be well on your way to a fuller, more active life. Joint Camp, a free preoperative education program, will help you and your family learn what to expect before, during, and after your surgery. We strongly encourage all patients along with their support partner to experience our Joint Camp class. We offer an online presentation that you can view from the comfort of your home.
Guidebooks
In addition to Joint Camp, we offer educational guidebooks for your orthopedic surgery. Each guidebook contains information on what you can do to speed your recovery, such as preparing your home, the equipment you will need after your surgery, strengthening exercises, precautions to be aware of after your surgery, and continuing care options like home health services.
Patient Surveys
The surveys linked to below are an essential part of the process of joint replacement and spine surgery, and they are widely used internationally to indicate surgical success. We ask that you complete your first survey before your surgery to allow your care team to understand your baseline activity and pain levels. In six months, your care team will reach out to you to fill out the same survey a second time. From this information, they will know how you are recovering and if our care helped you meet your goals of returning to an active lifestyle without pain or discomfort.
Let us ask you a few questions. After completing the survey, you will be taken to the Joint Camp presentation.
