Learner Information
The Medical Education team at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center helps schedule and coordinate clinical rotations for various learner types.
Please note:
Students (even employees of NLH who are students) should not be setting up their own rotations with NL EMMC preceptors. While we appreciate that employees who are also students (or even friends/family of employees who are students) have connections and conversations that can lead to willing preceptors, they must begin that process with Medical Education. The reason for this is that our preceptors, who are incredibly kind and generous teachers, may very well be willing and say yes to a student request, but may also be unaware that their practice has other students rotating at that same requested time, thus taking away from the quality of the rotation for all involved.
If a student has a preceptor they have in mind, have spoken to in conversation, or would otherwise like to work with, the proper protocol is for that student to communicate that request with Medical Education, providing that person’s name and department and Medical Education will reach out to that preceptor/practice manager on the student’s behalf.
At no time should the school or student be reaching out to Medical Education to inform us of an already set-up rotation. Doing so will result in a canceled rotation.
If you are interested in learning more about our offerings or requesting a rotation with us, please check out our student pages linked above or contact one of our knowledgeable Medical Education Specialists listed below. We'd happy to assist you!
