Medical Education

"Just remember the world is not a playground but a schoolroom. Life is not a holiday but an education. One eternal lesson for us all: to teach us how better we should love."
Barbra Jordan

"If you have knowledge, let others light their candles in it."
Margaret Fuller

Medical Education is founded on the principle that today’s healthcare professionals build the future of healthcare through innovation, lifelong learning, and training the next generation, while keeping the promise that everyone deserves compassionate, safe, quality care.  Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is proud to host over 150 healthcare professional learners each month, including medical, nurse practitioner and physician assistant students, and resident and fellow physicians.
The Medical Education team is here to serve all of our learners and to assist them with meeting their individual requirements.  We take this responsibility seriously and strive to provide excellence in our clinical learning environment.

The Medical Education Department oversees:
  • Maintenance of accreditation for our graduate medical education programs.
  • Clinical placement of medical and advance practice provider students.
  • Approving and administering continuing medical education for practicing clinicians.
  • Management of our Simulation Center, including development and implementation of clinical training scenarios.
  • The Northern Area Health Education Center (AHEC) of Maine, improving the healthcare workforce pipeline.
  • Providing faculty development, professionalism and emotional intelligence training, and communication skills building.

We welcome you into our facilities and hope that you leave with a grander understanding of the world around you.

"We live. We learn. We teach."
