Northern Light Mercy Hospital honors Jim Ciampi with annual Forsley Award

Date: 10/24/2023

Northern Light Mercy Hospital announced that Jim Ciampi has received the 2023 Forsley Award. The award was given to Ciampi at a breakfast event this morning to benefit Gary’s House, a Mercy Hospital program that provides accommodations for families with loved ones receiving care at any greater Portland health care facility. Video footage and photos are available to download from Dropbox here.

The Forsley Award celebrates Jim’s outstanding community leadership, his commitment to helping others, and decades of service on the boards of Cheverus High School, Deering Pavilion, and the Italian Heritage Center.

“Jim is a dedicated volunteer who has helped countless area non-profit organizations. For more than 40 years, he’s given his time and talent to help improve our community and help those in need,” said Charlie Therrien, president of Mercy Hospital.

Established in 2015, the annual Forsley Award is named in honor of longtime Gary’s House champion Fred Forsley. The award recognizes a remarkable leader and advocate who works to make our community better for all with a special focus on our neighbors in need. Before Gary’s House was established, an annual fundraising event was held at Forsley’s Federal Jack’s Brew Pub in Kennebunkport. This annual fundraiser, along with support from hundreds in the community, lead to the establishment of Gary’s House in honor of Kennebunk native, Gary Pike. Since it opened in 1998, the hospitality home has helped more than 6,000 families through a difficult time in their lives.
