Community Health Fair Planned for October 7

Date: 09/14/2023

Presque Isle, Maine (September 14, 2023) — Northern Light AR Gould Hospital is excited to be bringing back our annual Fall Health Fair on Saturday, October 7, from 10 am to 1 pm, in the gymnasium at Northern Maine Community College.  This marks the first time that the event has been offered since 2019 due to COVID restrictions.

The event features a wide offering of screenings and information to help people take charge of their health.

“Educating people about their health is a priority for us, and the Health Fair allows us to provide easy access to a wide range of valuable information and free screenings that will help people be more aware of their own health,” says Jay Reynolds, MD, hospital president.

Adult flu shots, including high dose ones for adults age 65 or older, will be offered at the Health Fair.  Other free screenings and assessments will include cholesterol screenings, blood pressure checks, body composition analysis, stroke and diabetes risk assessment, and more. There will be models and demonstrations, and staff will be showing people how to self-schedule primary care appointments and mammograms.

In addition to booths from practices and departments within AR Gould Hospital, there will be booths on various health topics from Northern Maine Community College senior nursing students.  Several non-profit organizations will also be taking part with information about resources to help people in our community.

Free fun activities for adults and children are also a part of the day, including various games, free popcorn, door prize drawings, and more.

People are encouraged to stop by the Health Fair anytime between 10 am and 1 pm on Saturday, October 7, in the NMCC gym, 33 Edgemont Drive in Presque Isle.
