CA Dean Modernization Project Update – October 6, 2022

What’s happening now

As the cool weather sets in, the construction team continues to work diligently towards completing exterior finish work before winter arrives. The project remains on schedule and on budget. Current activities include:

  • Decking and floor preparation continues for the concrete slabs in the new hospital building.
  • Under slab utilities are currently being installed.
  • Work on the roof of the new hospital continues.
  • Foundation work on the Ambulance Station continues. In the coming days, framers will begin to construct the walls, and truss installation will follow.

Did you know?

The CA Dean Emergency Department serves a larger area than any other hospital in Maine. Features of the new Emergency Department that the current facility does not have include an anteroom to help prevent the spread of infection, a separate, secure room for behavioral health patients, and security enhancements, including security cameras.

In case you missed it

Employees, hospital supporters, patients, and community members gathered on Friday, September 9 to watch the final steel beam placed on the Buck Family Building. If you were unable to join us, click here for photos and click here for a short video.
