CA Dean Modernization Project Update – December 9, 2022
 

What’s happening now 

Snowflakes and colder weather have ushered in winter, but the change of season hasn’t hindered progress at the construction site. Crews are working to close in the main hospital (Buck Family Building) and ambulance garage (Buck Family Ambulance Station). We’re watching more of the walls go up every week on both buildings.
 
Every successful construction project faces bumps in the road that can often be overcome with creative solutions, and ours is no different. Due to the worker shortage that many businesses are feeling, the construction crew has experienced delays in finishing the Buck Family Ambulance Station, which had been scheduled to open before winter. Fortunately, we’ve found a temporary home for our ambulances for the winter. Our equipment will remain warm and secure in between calls in the Bartley Barn just down the street from the hospital. Northern Light CA Dean Hospital is grateful to the Bartley Family for working with us on a temporary solution for housing our ambulances. Best of all, this solution has no impact on patient care.
 
Lots of progress is now being made on the Ambulance Station, and we look forward to opening the building in the spring of 2023.
 

The people behind the project 

Nobody on the planet knows more about our hospital buildings than Steve Douglass. Steve has been CA Dean Hospital’s director of Facilities for many years and has worked for the organization for nearly three decades. Steve keeps our aging facility functioning for the comfort and safety of our patients, which often involves a lot of innovative thinking and problem solving. As director, Steve plays an important day-to-day role in our building project. His knowledge and experience will be more helpful than ever as we continue our journey to modernize the hospital.
