Bruce Gomberg, MD is a board-certified surgeon specializing in total hip and knee replacements, knee revisions, and partial knee replacements. Dr. Gomberg is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy, and the European Knee Associates, where he is the Co-Chair of the Small Implant Group, focusing on partial knee replacements. He is the Director of the Maine Orthopaedic Review, held annually at Colby College, the nation’s longest running orthopaedic surgery board review course. He has held this position for the past twelve years. He is also a contributing author to three recently published papers on the preparation and resumption of elective hip and knee arthroplasty in the setting of the SARS CoV-2 pandemic.
Dr. Gomberg is motivated by his desire to help people regain their mobility. He attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh, completing his internship and residency at West Virginia University. He completed his fellowship in Arthroplasty and Surgical healthcare delivery at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital in Bronx, New York. A native of Brooklyn, New York, he has resided in Maine for twelve years where he lives with his partner, Deb. Together, they share six children and 4 grandchildren. When he is not in surgery, he enjoys hiking, playing racquetball, and listening to jazz music.
