Dr. George Tuchsen is a board-certified general surgeon and a fellow of the American Board of Surgery who has been practicing surgery since 1994. As a nationally recognized expert in da Vinci robotic surgery, he has conducted training courses and proctored over 100 surgeons in the use of the robotic surgical platform.
Dr. Tuchsen specializes in general and minimally invasive surgery with a special interest in robotic-assisted surgery and gastroesophageal reflux surgery. He also has extensive experience in biliary/gastrointestinal surgery, breast surgery, intestinal disorders, and surgical treatment of all types of abdominal wall hernias. Prior to joining Mercy Hospital, he was in private practice in San Antonio, Texas and chief of surgery at North Central Baptist Hospital.
Dr. Tuchsen is married and has five children. When not in the office, hospital, or operating room, he loves traveling to new locations, camping, and being outdoors. He has gone on numerous medical missions across the globe, including Guatemala and the Philippines. Those experiences have been rewarding and help him fulfill his dream of service to others.
