Psychological First Aid

Psychological First Aid trainingHow would you respond to an employee in crisis?

Northern Light Acadia Hospital is pleased to offer, free of charge, a training program for employers called Psychological First Aid (PFA).

Learn how to repond to your employees in real time who may be in a crisis. PFA has been used by the American Red Cross, first responders, and law enforcement to train staff on how to respond to a traumatic experience.

Developed by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and the National Center for PTSD, PFA teaches us that those affected by trauma will experience a range of reactions so severe that initial support is critical to prevent a more serious condition from emerging later.

Even before the pandemic, many people from all corners of life were struggling with mental and behavioral health issues. If there was a ‘silver lining’ to COVID-19, it’s that it made it OK to not be OK, and to be up front when we need support to make it through life’s challenges. Whether it’s the unexpected death of a loved one, loss of their belongings to a fire or theft, or victim of a major crime, early intervention can make a world of difference to an employee in crisis.
Northern Light Acadia Hospital’s mission is to empower people to improve their lives.
