Looking to gain real world experience in one of the best family residency program around? Look no further. The Northern Light Family Medicine Residency Program is fulfilling the need for primary care physicians trained to practice in any setting, but especially rural communities.

This community based program is the ideal situation for a resident who wants broad based training, with a focus on treating patients and their families.

Our Family Medicine Residency Program is located in a spacious facility approximately eight miles from the main campus of Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. This facility is equipped with 32 examination rooms, all of which have access to the hospital electronic medical record system, including our radiology system. 

Our residency program facility includes:

  • Two procedure rooms

  • Modern osteopathic treatment tables

  • Six examination rooms equipped with a video observation system used for teaching purposes

Our office provides easy access to ancillary services such as:

  • Radiology

  • Full service laboratory

  • Commercial pharmacy

  • Outpatient Physical and Occupational Therapy

  • Diabetes and Nutrition

Apply for the family medicine residency program

All applications and supporting credentials must be submitted through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Call your Dean's office for information on how to complete an ERAS application.

To consider your file complete, we need the following: 

  • Completion of the ERAS Application

  • Medical School Dean's Letter

  • Medical School Transcripts

  • USMLE or COMLEX results

  • Three Letters of Reference

A personal interview is required for final acceptance into the Northern Light Family Medicine Residency Program. Interviews are conducted on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and are arranged by the residency coordinator.
