Who is the Pediatric Behavioral Day Treatment designed to help?

Our Pediatric Behavioral Day Treatment program is tailored for youth who may be experiencing a range of mental health challenges. The program is designed for children between ages 5 and 18 or between kindergarten through high school. We cannot accept patients if they are in pre-K or if they are no longer in high school.

We address challenges that young individuals may encounter, from mood disorders to behavioral concerns and beyond.

  • Anxiety and Mood Swings: Youth facing increased anxiety, changes in mood, and emotional volatility.

  • Stress and Frustration: Youth struggling with stress, frustration, and anger, which may lead to withdrawal from social activities.

  • Adapting to Change: Youth who are finding it difficult to cope with sudden changes or disruptions in routine and the loss of normalcy.

  • Peer Support and Structure: Youth who require peer support, structured routines, and a consistent environment.

  • Transitioning Needs: Youth whose community-based services have changed or ended, necessitating continued support during the summer.

Our Pediatric Behavioral Day Treatment program is designed to cater to the diverse needs of youth and their families. At the core of our day treatment program is a holistic approach that recognizes the interconnectedness of mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.

At the heart of our care is a team of dedicated professionals, including skilled psychiatrists who lead the way in diagnosing and guiding treatment. With specialized training in pediatric behavioral health, our clinicians are equipped to provide evidence-based interventions that lead to positive outcomes.

A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation is conducted promptly after the referral call, allowing us to create a tailored care plan that meets the unique needs of each child.

Our program offers a multi-disciplinary approach that addresses behavioral, social, and mental health concerns, ensuring that youth have access to the resources they need to thrive.

Participation in the Intensive Summer Treatment Program is a step toward empowering youth with valuable skills and strategies for their journey toward wellbeing. Together, let's make this summer a season of growth, connection, and positive transformation for Maine's youth.

What does “Intensive” mean in “Intensive Outpatient”?

Our pediatric behavioral day treatment programs offer intensive outpatient care that goes beyond traditional approaches. “Intensive” is defined by the Center’s for Medicare and Medicare Services (CMS) which requires patients to receive behavioral services between 9 and 19 hours in a week and at least 3 hours of therapy within every 3 to 4 days.

We understand that every young person's journey is unique, and our intensive outpatient program is designed to provide comprehensive and specialized support to make a lasting difference. The journey to wellbeing is a collaborative effort, and we are honored to walk alongside families on this path. Our program not only provides immediate support but also equips young individuals with skills that will serve them throughout their lives.
