Thornton Promoted to Vice President

Tyson Thornton, PharmD, FACHE, has been promoted to vice president of Operations for Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital. 

In making the announcement, Randy Clark, president, said, “Tyson has been a dedicated leader and champion for Sebasticook Valley Hospital, our patients, and our staff. He has already been a very effective leader as our associate vice president of Therapeutic and Support Services, always putting patient and staff safety first. Now he will take on oversight of even more clinical areas. I look forward to continuing to work with him in this new senior level role.” 

Thornton has been with Northern Light Health since 2008, starting as a staff pharmacist with Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, then taking on a leadership role with Sebasticook Valley Hospital in 2012.

He is responsible for all pharmacy, outpatient infusion services, facilities, real estate, safety, security, emergency preparedness, environmental services, nutritional services, outpatient diabetes and nutrition clinic, materials management, laboratory, women’s health, respiratory, and imaging. He also ensures the hospital is properly organized and prepared for state licensing and accreditation site visits.

Thornton earned his Master’s in Business Administration from New England College, and his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

He is a board member of the Northern New England Association of Healthcare Executives, the Maine Regent for the American College of Healthcare Executives, a peer reviewer for the American Journal of Health System Pharmacy, and a volunteer with the University of New Hampshire Healthcare Management Program.
