SVH Breast Cancer Walk Raises Awareness and Support for Pittsfield Community
Date: 09/30/2021

On Saturday, October 23 people of all ages will come together at the MCI Football Field in Pittsfield for Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.
Every dollar raised at the walk will support mammograms and enhance care provided at Northern Light Women’s Health in Pittsfield.
Individuals, families, and groups are welcome to join in the non-competitive walk. Participants may join a team or register as individuals and are encouraged to help raise funds by collecting pledges for their walk. Join us for the community walk starting at the MCI Football Field or participants can walk their neighborhood or favorite trail on their own time. No matter how you participate, there is a way to support this great cause during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Northern Light Women’s Health offers digital mammography, breast ultrasound, digital bone density (osteoporosis) screening, breast biopsies, lymphedema therapy, and other services in a private setting. Sebasticook Valley Hospital’s advanced 3D mammography technology, which was purchased with donor funds, helps doctors detect and diagnose cancer earlier and more accurately. The Pittsfield hospital is a certified Pink Ribbon Facility, which means that patients can expect to have the most comfortable mammography experience possible.
Walk Registration is $20; register online at
northernlighthealth.org/SVHBreastCancerWalk or call 207.487.4036 for more information. Registration and fundraising pledge forms are available online or at the Women’s Health Center (attached to the hospital).
Event Registration begins at 9 am and the walk kicks off at 9:45. Participants who attend the community walk on October 23 will receive a gift as our thanks to help promote breast cancer awareness; there will also be prizes for top fund raisers.
A special thank you to Breast Cancer Walk supporter, CM Almy. This year, the Pittsfield company held an employee contest to create a specially themed candle in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month that will help fund additional mammograms for local patients. We are grateful for CM Almy’s ongoing support and fundraising innovation, which will allow many more people to have access to the care they need.
