We use filmless technology called PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System). PACS uses a computer network designed for the acquisition, transmission, display, storage, and retrieval of digital medical images.
The benefits of PACS:
-
Quick access for providers to view images and reports, which facilitates timely and efficient clinical care decisions
-
Images can be transmitted to various PACS systems over a secure network established between facilities eliminating the need for patients to retrieve images prior to an appointment.
-
Images can be enhanced for clarity after the exam, reducing the need to return for additional imaging tests
-
Doctors have immediate access to images - which is essential in trauma or life-threatening illness situations
-
Images can be copied onto a compact disc
