The Birthing Center at Northern Light Mayo Hospital is designed with comfort and privacy in mind. Our rooms feature home furnishings and warm decor blended with the latest medical technology to create an environment that is high-tech yet soothing and relaxing.
We encourage family participation. We provide a home-like atmosphere to encourage bonding with your newborn. Siblings of the baby, grandparents, and dads can visit at any time. We offer a pull-out sleep chair for dad or a designated family member and give you the option of rooming in with your baby. We also prepare mom and a guest a special meal to help celebrate the newest member of your family!
The Birthing Center consists of two labor and delivery/recovery (LDR) rooms, one triage room, a labor tub, three postpartum/gynecological patient rooms, and a newborn nursery. Anesthesia coverage is available 24 hours per day. All newborns have the opportunity for a newborn hearing screening and expanded newborn blood spot screening.
We offer free tours of the birthing center — just call ahead and schedule a convenient time.
Other programs offered through the department include Baby & Me, childbirth education classes, newborn education classes, and carseat safety checks and distribution.
We work in coordination with Northern Light Women’s Health and the Northern Light Health Centers in Dover-Foxcroft, Corinth, and Milo to provide personalized service through your pregnancy and delivery. If you are pregnant or are trying to become pregnant, rest assured you will be in good hands with our team.
