Maine nursing students receive Robert Masterson Nursing Scholarships
Date: 08/06/2025

Northern Light Mercy Hospital is pleased to announce that Cady Hebert, a recent nursing graduate from the University of Maine at Fort Kent, and Katelyn DeGirolamo Voorhis, a graduate of Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, have been awarded Robert Masterson Nursing Scholarships.
Each year, the $2,500 scholarship is presented to one or more senior nursing students enrolled at a Maine college or university who plan to pursue a career in critical care nursing.
The scholarship honors the legacy of Robert “Bob” Masterson, BSN, CCRN, a beloved critical care nurse who spent more than 30 years serving patients at Mercy Hospital. Bob earned his nursing degree from the University of San Francisco and was known for his steady leadership, clinical expertise, and unwavering commitment to patient care. As a mentor to many nursing students during their clinical rotations, Bob guided others through challenging situations with calm confidence, always embodying the values of Mercy.
Bob retired in January 2013 and passed away just one month later from pancreatic cancer. The scholarship established in his name reflects his passion for nursing, his compassion for patients, and his belief in lifelong learning.
