Northern Light Mercy Hospital welcomes six new specialists

Northern Light Mercy Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of several highly skilled specialists to its growing team.
 
Cardiovascular Care
Benjamin Schwartz, MD, a cardiologist, has joined Northern Light Mercy Cardiovascular Care. Dr. Schwartz has an interest in preventive cardiology and is particularly focused on helping patients reduce their risk of heart disease through early detection, lifestyle changes, and proactive long-term management.
 
He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College, followed by residency training in internal medicine at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He went on to complete his cardiology fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where he received training in the diagnosis and management of a broad range of cardiovascular conditions.
 
Guided by a strong commitment to patient-centered care, Dr. Schwartz strives to build lasting, collaborative relationships with his patients, empowering them to be active partners in their cardiovascular health.

Gastroenterology
Sara Zelman, MD, a general gastroenterologist, has joined Northern Light Mercy Gastroenterology. She cares for patients with all gastrointestinal conditions and has a special interest in autoimmune diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease.
 
Dr. Zelman earned her medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York, completed her internal medicine residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, and pursued fellowship training in gastroenterology at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. She is passionate about building collaborative, long-term relationships to help patients manage chronic conditions with confidence and clarity.

Hannah Andrews, FNP-C, a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, also joined Northern Light Mercy Gastroenterology. Hannah has been part of the Mercy team since 2020, working in telemetry, surgical, medical-surgical, and endoscopy departments. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of New England. Hannah is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Ear, Nose, and Throat Care
Camilla Baronas, AuD, CCC-A, an audiologist, has joined Northern Light Mercy Ear, Nose, and Throat Care. She received her bachelor’s degree in speech-language and hearing sciences from the University of Connecticut and her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Dr. Baronas completed a year-long clinical externship at Boston Medical Center, gaining extensive experience in newborn diagnostics, hearing screenings, and vestibular testing. Before joining Mercy Hospital, she served as a clinical audiologist at Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary. She continues to provide adult and pediatric diagnostic services.

Breast Care
Valerie Nye, PA, a board-certified physician assistant with a strong background in surgical care, has joined Northern Light Mercy Breast Care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Gordon College and her master’s degree from the University of New England’s Physician Assistant Program. Valerie built her career in Maine, beginning in general surgery before focusing on breast surgery. She is committed to ensuring every patient feels informed, supported, and confident throughout their care journey.

High Risk & Genetics Clinic
Kate Rossiter, MSN, FNP-BC, a board-certified family nurse practitioner, has joined Mercy Hospital’s High Risk & Genetics Clinic. She earned dual bachelor’s degrees in health sciences and nursing and completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Simmons University. Kate has worked in outpatient gastroenterology and homecare settings and currently serves as an adjunct instructor in the nursing department at the University of Southern Maine. She is passionate about personalized care, patient education, and fostering strong, trusting relationships with her patients.
