Annual McAuley Residence 5K Walk/Run helps women in recovery

On Saturday, September 14, Northern Light Mercy Hospital hosted its annual McAuley Residence 5K Walk/Run for Recovery. The event took place on the hospital’s campus in Portland along the Fore River. There were activities for the whole family, and participants enjoyed having Beacon, the Maine Mariner’s mascot, at the finish line to congratulate them. Proceeds from the event benefit McAuley Residence, the hospital’s comprehensive, two-generation housing and support program for families affected by substance use disorder.
 
McAuley Residence, a program of Mercy Hospital, has evolved since its founding in 1988 by the Sisters of Mercy. Currently, there are McAuley Residence programs in Portland and Bangor, with more set to open across the state in the coming years.
