Mercy Hospital receives an ‘A’ for patient safety

Date: 05/15/2019

For the sixth time in a row, Northern Light Mercy Hospital has received an ‘A’ grade for meeting the highest safety standards in the country. In its Hospital Safety Grades report, The Leapfrog Foundation assigns an ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’ or ‘F’ grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care.

“It takes a coordinated team to consistently attain this high level of performance, and I would like to thank all the amazing team members at Mercy who make patient safety their top priority every day,” said Charlie Therrien, president of Mercy Hospital.

Developed under the guidance of a panel of national experts, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign the grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The methodology used is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
