Northern Light Mercy Hospital achieves national recognition for patient safety
Portland, Maine (Nov. 8, 2018) – Northern Light Mercy Hospital achieved top marks in the latest patient safety report issued by The Leapfrog Group. In its Hospital Safety Grades report, Leapfrog assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on how safe they are for patients. For the fifth time in a row, Mercy Hospital has received an “A” grade for protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the country.
“The safety of our patients is everything,” said Charlie Therrien, president of Mercy Hospital. “This recognition is a testament to the focus and hard work of so many at Mercy who work to ensure all who come through our doors receive the best experience possible.”
Developed under the guidance of a National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign the grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
