Post-COVID Care

Our multidisciplinary team provides care to patients who experience lingering symptoms even after they have recovered from COVID-19 infection. Northern Light Mercy Hospital collaborates with Massachusetts General Hospital on the clinical care of post-COVID-19 patients, and we will continue to work with them as clinical guidelines evolve for post-COVID care.
Post-COVID-19 patients may have a range of symptoms that could require evaluation from a variety of specialists. Each patient first undergoes a comprehensive intake and physical evaluation. A patient navigator then arranges additional imaging, testing and/or referrals to specialists as needed.

While those seeking care do not need to be an existing Northern Light Health patient, our team partners with primary care providers at Mercy and in our community to ensure patients receive follow-up care tailored to their needs.

Focused, coordinated patient care

A centralized location to evaluate post-COVID symptoms allows a select group of providers to focus on the evaluation and treatment of post-COVID patients. It also helps our clinicians work more efficiently with Massachusetts General Hospital on developing evolving clinical guidelines to help these patients.

In partnership with primary care providers, the care team will arrange additional testing and/or referrals to specialty care providers, such as cardiology (heart and vascular), pulmonology (lungs) , psychiatry or social work (mental health), and outpatient rehabilitation services (physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech).
