Vice President of Finance of Mercy Hospital

David Kennedy is the Vice President of Finance of Mercy Hospital. David is responsible for the daily financial operations of Mercy Hospital including financial decision making and planning activities. On a day-to-day basis, he oversees Mercy’s financial operating and capital budgeting, modeling, analysis, and stewardship of assets.

David is passionate about his family, friends, and all the outdoor activities Maine has to offer.

David serves as a member of the MHA Healthcare Finance Council and the Board of Directors of the Northern New England Chapter of HFMA. Prior to joining Northern Light Health, David was a Senior Manager at BerryDunn serving as a healthcare financial consultant.

Vice President, Philanthropy, Northern Light Health

Susan Rouillard is vice president of Philanthropy for Northern Light Health and oversees the fundraising programs for the southwest region of Northern Light Health.

Her responsibilities include overseeing philanthropy programs, including capital campaigns and mission-focused programs for the region that encompasses Northern Light Mercy Hospital, CA Dean Hospital, Inland Hospital, SVH Hospital, Northern Light Mayo Hospital and Homecare & Hospice. Fundraising for Mercy’s McAuley Residence in Portland and Gary’s House are also under Susan’s direction.

Susan has a special interest in development and marketing for the nonprofit sector. She has an extensive background in communications and capital campaign planning and execution. Among the campaigns she has helped organize and manage: The Parker Pavilion at the University of New England (UNE), the George and Barbara Bush Cultural Center, the Harold Alfond Medical School at UNE, and the consolidation of Westbrook College Campus with UNE. Susan currently oversees the One Mercy Capital Campaign and the “Preserving the Promise” Campaign for CA Dean Hospital.

As a community leader, Susan has served on several nonprofit boards over the course of her career: Greater Portland Landmarks, Sweetser (Corporator), The Louis T. Graves Memorial Library, United Way of York County, Season Ten Foundation and, most recently, Seeds of Hope, a nonprofit organization focused on providing food and housing for those in need in York County.

Prior to joining Northern Light Mercy Hospital in 2008, Susan was the president of Laudholm Trust and chair of the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve.

Melissa Skahan, MA is the Vice President, Mission Integration and Support Services of Northern Light Mercy Hospital. Melissa is responsible for advancing strategy for vulnerable populations in Greater Portland and promoting Mercy’s mission, vision, and values throughout the organization. Ms. Skahan also is responsible for behavioral health, support services, workforce development, communication and marketing, community health, patient experience, ethics, spiritual care, patient advocacy, Gary’s House, McAuley Residence, and Mercy’s volunteer program. Ms. Skahan serves on Milestone Recovery’s Board of Directors and the United Way of Greater Portland’s Strategic Council. She has her Masters in Organization Development and has studied Ethics at the post-graduate level.

Melissa embraces fully the notion of servant leadership. Whether patient, family, or colleague, she views each encounter as an opportunity.

Melissa’s leadership efforts with the opioid crisis are seen through her direct involvement as the executive director of McAuley Residence and facilitates the Greater Portland Addiction Collaborative (GPAC). Ms. Skahan serves on Milestone Recovery’s Board of Directors and the United Way of Greater Portland’s Strategic Council. She has her Masters in Organization Development and has studied Ethics at the post-graduate level.

Prior to joining Northern Light Health, Melissa worked as a public-school administrator and enjoyed spending time with her three daughters and husband, Pat.
