Meet Ashley, an EMCC graduate who completed her nursing education in Dover-Foxcroft

Ashley.jpgI’m Ashley, a registered nurse and alumna of the Northern Light Mayo Hospital cohort nursing program. After graduation, I started my career at Mayo Hospital on the Medical/Surgical Unit and part time in the Behavioral Health Office. About one year ago, I transitioned to my current role, Manager of Outpatient Quality, where I focus on quality and preventative health for the patients of our primary care practices in Dexter, Dover, Milo, and Corinth. I love my job!

The Mayo Hospital cohort was an absolute blessing to me. When I applied at Eastern Maine Community College, I was nervous about the travel time and often being away from family. I didn’t know how I would schedule time to study, travel, and take care of my home and family while still finding time to take care of me.

There was a lot of work to do in nursing school and the ability to learn locally allowed me to get it all accomplished and make my dreams of being a nurse come true!

I was able to spend time with my family, study diligently, work part time, travel less, sleep more, and keep my sanity during the demands of nursing school.

With the small group I got to be a part of, I felt like I had a VIP pass with opportunities for one-on-one instruction and the ability to get to know my future co-workers and the Mayo Hospital faculty. The instructors, Nikki and Beth, made an incredible duo that raised the quality of my education to the highest peaks with their experience and knowledge in the nursing field.

If you are considering the nursing program and Mayo Hospital is close to home, don’t hesitate to join. From my experience, there is nothing like sharing your education and graduation day with this outstanding community!
