Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital opened its new beautiful and spacious Dixon Family Birthing Center today.  The hospital invited board members, donors and the media for a brief ribbon cutting ceremony and to tour the facility on Monday, January 9.

Remarks made by John Ronan, president, Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital and Tim Dentry, CEO, Northern Light Health explained how important this investment is to our region. “This is just the beginning of a large renovation and modernization project to increase the availability of private patient rooms at Maine Coast, which will begin immediately,” says Ronan.

Mrs. Edith Dixon and her family gave generously to this project.  The long-time friend and supporter of the hospital was not in attendance but shared, “This is a historic day for Maine Coast Hospital and our family is proud to support this very important project. We’re so pleased that our community will now have a modern, comfortable birthing center to welcome future generations.”

The new spacious, family-focused Birthing Center will provide parents with the best possible environment for welcoming a newborn. The new unit will include comfortable combined labor, deliver, and recovery suites with plenty of space for a support person to stay overnight.
