Exciting progress for Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital’s Building on a Promise campaign

Two local businesses have stepped forward with generous gifts to Maine Coast Hospital’s (MCH) Building on a Promise campaign. Both Jones, Kuriloff & Sargent, LLC and Merrill Furniture, each with $25,000 gifts, will make a significant impact as the hospital looks to create a brand-new Birthing Center and renovate patient rooms. “The strong support these two small Ellsworth businesses have shown to Maine Coast is incredible,” explains hospital president John Ronan. “We truly appreciate their investment along with their steady focus and understanding of the importance of access to excellent healthcare in the region.”

At the start of the campaign, Edith Dixon, Honorary Campaign Chair challenged the community to donate and pledge a total of $1 million by the end of 2022. “Right now we are only $100,000 away from meeting that challenge goal,” shares Ruth Calas, director of philanthropy. “The support shown thus far from our business community and individual donors is fantastic. I look forward to continuing to work with our outstanding campaign committee members toward our campaign goal of $5 million to bring our modernization plans to life.”

The Building on a Promise campaign committee is comprised of local leaders with deep ties to Maine Coast:
  • Robert (Bob) Merrill, Merrill Furniture - an MCH honorary life member trustee, past board chair, and previous EMHS Corporator
  • Rebecca J. Sargent, Esq., CTFA of Jones, Kuriloff, & Sargent, LLC – past member (and chair) hospital board of trustees, Northern Light Health Corporator
  • Debra (Debbie) Ehrlenbach, - past member (and chair) hospital board of trustees
  • Julie Calor Vittum, Machias Savings Bank – dedicated key volunteer, Poinsettia Ball Committee Chair, and daughter of longtime employee

Every gift (individual, family, and corporate gifts or pledges) made to the campaign will stay in Ellsworth to support the hospital’s modernization project. Naming opportunities are available to recognize the support of individuals, families, and businesses and in honor or memory of loved ones.
