Specimen Lock Box Instructions

Maintaining specimen integrity is extremely important to laboratory testing.

These boxes are designed to start at room temperature, so it is vital they stay inside until packing for the courier.

  1. The box should be inside until packed for the courier. It is important that these boxes start at room temperature in order to maintain specimen integrity.

  2. Place a freeze pack on the bottom of the box.

  3. Place frozen specimens (if applicable) directly on the freeze pack.

  4. Place a towel on top of the freeze pack/specimens to serve as a barrier.

  5. Place refrigerated specimens on the towel.

  6. Place another towel on the refrigerated specimens as a barrier.

  7. Place room temperature specimens on the towel.
