Love for Lakewood Day of Giving focuses on patient care and comfort
Date: 11/03/2021
On November 9, 2021, Northern Light Continuing Care, Lakewood friends and family and our community will come together virtually to support Love for Lakewood, a Day of Giving that enhances care and comfort for those who call Lakewood “home.”
“The pandemic has been especially difficult for our patients and residents, many of whom have had fewer opportunities to interact with their families and community,” says Kendall Bailey, MLA, administrator, Lakewood. “On November 9, we invite those who have a passion for improving the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in our community to support this special giving opportunity.”
This year’s Day of Giving will fund three critical needs:
- Replacing aging beds for increased comfort and a better night’s sleep. The new beds also have safety technology that reduces the risk of falls.
- Replacing older recliners with modern powerlift recliners for the best possible comfort and relaxation. Powerlift recliners reduce the pressure on the back and help with mobility.
- Adding additional lifts to further improve patient and resident comfort and safety. More lifts will reduce the possibility of patients and residents needing to wait for a lift to become available when they need to be transferred from their bed to a wheelchair, recliner, or the bathroom.
As one of the few nonprofit nursing homes in the area, Lakewood strives to serve anyone who needs care—regardless of their ability to pay. The enhancements funded by the Day of Giving will make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients like Jeffrine Quirion, who is appreciative for the care that she currently receives at Lakewood’s Skilled Rehabilitation Unit.
“The staff are responsive; when I need something, they anticipate my needs and respond quickly and appropriately,” says Jeffrine. “The staff communicate with me consistently and regularly. Nursing and therapy keep me engaged in my care. It’s truly a home away from home.”
Our fundraising goal is $30,000. If 50 donors contribute $15,000 to the Day of Giving, an additional $15,000 will be given by anonymous donors. To learn more and contribute, please visit
