Poinsettia Ball Express kicks off the holiday season, raises money for women’s healthcare services

Date: 12/14/2018

(Ellsworth, Maine)  Guests donning festive red attire enjoyed spectacular culinary fare and danced the night away to benefit Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital’s women’s health services at the twenty-seventh Poinsettia Ball on December 1 at the Ramada Inn in Ellsworth.

This year’s theme, the Poinsettia Ball Express, celebrated the incredible food, sights, and sounds of the holiday season and inspired memories of the golden age of passenger train travel. The outstanding buffet was prepared by Chipper’s Restaurant and Catering and dessert was provided by Helen’s Restaurant. Maine-based dance band the Larry Williams Band provided the entertainment.

Supported by more than 70 patrons and 440 guests, this year’s Poinsettia Ball raised over $60,000. Like the very first Poinsettia Ball held in 1992, every dollar raised will stay in the local community to support obstetrics and maternity care at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital.

“Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital prides itself on providing the most comfortable, convenient, safe care,” says John Ronan, president Maine Coast Hospital. “We can keep raising the bar for quality and patient experience in Obstetrics and Maternity by investing in our facility and providing our team with the tools they need to provide the best care. We’re grateful for the community’s generous support of the Poinsettia Ball and women’s healthcare at Maine Coast Hospital.”

Many guests participated in a silent auction featuring a wine basket, a journey to the North Pole experience, a shopping and dining package, and a Boston sports trip.
