Date: 11/13/2025

Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center has once again received a grade of “A” from The Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety ScoreSM, a grade the medical center has consistently held since spring 2023.

Eastern Maine Medical Center puts safety first in every aspect of its work. A collaborative environment not only encourages but also empowers every team member to actively look for potential concerns during the care process and take immediate action by initiating a safety stop. If a concern is raised, leaders diligently investigate the matter, quickly devise an effective solution, and ensure its timely implementation to maintain the highest safety standards.

“Every day, our multi-disciplinary teams gather to ensure their efforts are aligned, focusing on complex cases and addressing any safety concerns, says Ava Collins, MHA, FACHE, president, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. “These meetings foster an environment of continuous improvement, enabling EMMC to enhance the quality of care by identifying patient needs, determining appropriate next steps, and consistently adapting our practices to uphold our unwavering commitment to patient safety.”

The Leapfrog Group releases letter ratings for healthcare centers twice a year based on data reported publicly to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. Hospitals with an "A" grade excel in 22 evidence-based measures and actively protect patients from harm and significantly improve patient outcomes.
