Northern Light Cardiothoracic Surgery Welcomes new Surgeon

Date: 09/03/2024

Robin Willard, MD joins the dynamic team in Cardiothoracic Surgery with specialties in coronary artery bypass, aortic valve surgery, mitral valve surgery, arrhythmia surgery, TAVR, aortic aneurysm and dissection repair, and minimally invasive cardiac surgery.

With fellowships in cardiothoracic surgery from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center, and advanced coronary and minimally invasive cardiac surgery from Lenox Hill Hospital, Northwell Health; an internship/residency in general surgery from Ochsner LSU Health Sciences Center, Shreveport; Dr. Willard will hit the ground running!

Dr. Willard is board certified from the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a compassionate surgeon dedicated to providing the best possible care to his patients with a practice philosophy centered around good communication and respect, not only for patients and their families but colleagues and anyone involved in the care process. He says, “Cardiac disease is often overwhelming and scary, and I take it upon myself to help my patients and their families through it all—as painless and seamless as possible. If I were a patient, I would want a surgeon who cares, listens, explains, and makes themselves available, and I try to implement that philosophy into my daily practice.”

When Dr. Willard is enjoying downtime, you can find him cycling, running, hiking, skiing, and above all, spending time with his lovely wife and their dog. And here’s an interesting fact – he is an advanced open water scuba diver! Welcome abord, Dr. Willard.
