What makes our Pediatric Sedation program different?

• Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is the only hospital in the state to offer a coordinated Pediatric Sedation program.

• Our brand new Pediatric Sedation Unit, complete with “Rivers and Waters” theme, offers a child-friendly environment for kids and families to make their experience more enjoyable.

• Our team of pediatric intensivists and hospitalists will coordinate and directly oversee the process.

• We are a multidisciplinary group of pediatric professionals whose goal is to carefully “customize” the care children receive in order to improve their medical experiences.

What procedures are applicable?

We support a variety of inpatient and outpatient procedures throughout Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. Any procedure that may be painful or stressful for children or families is considered appropriate for an evaluation by the team. Frequent “users” — such as MRI, radiology, pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric oncology — contact the service directly when a provider schedules tests. In all situations, our physicians are readily available to discuss cases for which you may want to consider the Pediatric Sedation program.
