Colorectal Surgery

Colorectal cancer—cancer of the colon and rectum—is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States for both men and women combined. Each year in the US, approximately 140,000 new cases of colorectal cancer will be diagnosed and 56,000 people will die from the disease. This surpasses both breast cancer and prostate cancer in mortality. Colorectal cancer is second only to lung cancer in numbers of deaths in the United States, with about 5 percent of people at risk for developing the disease.
