Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center offers programs and experiences designed to guide students and young adults as they explore the many opportunities within the healthcare field. Career Exploration Fair

Healthcare offers countless career paths—many you may not even know exist! As Maine’s second-largest hospital, we’re proud to showcase hundreds of specialties and roles. Our Annual Career Exploration Fair brings together dozens of departments for hands-on demonstrations and conversations with professionals.
Who can attend? Local high school students, undergraduate students, educators, and school administrators.

Observational Experiences

For high school students (16+) and undergraduate university students, we offer opportunities to explore careers in healthcare through shadowing our professionals. Follow the link below to learn more about observational opportunities offered at the medical center.
Observations & Shadowing

School Experiential Learning Opportunities (ELOs)

We partner with schools to provide Experiential Learning Opportunities that connect classroom learning with real-world healthcare experiences. These programs allow students to shadow professionals, observe clinical environments, and complete projects that deepen their understanding of healthcare careers.
 

Student Volunteer Program

Our Summer Student Volunteer Program offers high school students the chance to gain real-world experience in a healthcare setting. Volunteers support patients, families, and staff while learning about hospital operations and patient care.
