Northern Light CA Dean Hospital is pleased to welcome diabetes expert Justine Fierman, APRN-BC, CDCES, to its practitioner team.
Justine, a family nurse practitioner with 27 years of experience, has a passion for excellence in diabetes care and education. She is a Certified Diabetes Educator and has earned an Advanced Diabetes Management certification.
Increasing access to diabetes counseling and education services is important in Piscataquis County where the diabetes death rate, hospitalization rate, and emergency department visit rates exceed state averages. With a focus on nutrition, exercise, medication use, and behavioral needs, Justine supports and empowers her patients to live their healthiest possible lives.
“Behind every Hemoglobin A1c is a story. It’s up to me to find out what that story is so I can best help the person with diabetes. It’s up to me to find out what each person’s story is so I can best help them with diabetes. Diabetes is a life-long disease. I’m here to help guide my patients through the changes that happen over time as they live with diabetes. I take pride in changing lives through individualized care and education,” says Justine.
Justine worked in private practice in the region before joining CA Dean Hospital. She has served as a director and program manager of diabetes centers, a guest lecturer and adjunct faculty member, and an author. Justine has cared for patients in several US states and in the country of Guyana.
Outside of work Justine enjoys kayaking, photography, and painting. She is a subpermittee wildlife rehabber in the state of Maine and volunteers caring for injured, ill, and orphaned wildlife.
Justine provides care at Northern Light Primary Care in Greenville and may expand her practice to other locations in the future. Patients who would like to set up an appointment with her are encouraged to ask their primary care provider for a referral or call 207.695.5220.
