CA Dean Modernization Project Update – October 25, 2022

What’s happening now

The hospital campus continues to transform as work progresses on the Buck Family Building and Buck Family Ambulance Station. Recent and upcoming activities include:

  • Framing, or fitting together the pieces that give our new hospital building its structure and shape, is wrapping up for the main hospital building. Framing is ongoing for the ambulance building and will be complete in November.
  • The concrete slab for the mezzanine of the new hospital building is underway. The mezzanine will house the air handlers, medical gas supply, pumps, and other utilities.
  • Underslab piping and electrical work continue on the main hospital building.
  • We anticipate that both the main hospital and ambulance buildings will be watertight by the end of January.

Did you know?

You may know that our new hospital will be a comfortable, calm space for patients and families, but did you know that creating a healing environment outside of our buildings is also a priority? The campus will include a new gazebo, park benches, and lots of trees. Landscaping will be one of the final phases of the project to be completed in 2024.

In case you missed it

Senator Susan Collins recently stopped by Northern Light CA Dean Hospital to learn about the Modernization Project and what it will mean for our patients and community and for an update on our mobile mammography unit. The mammography van will be funded with federal dollars that she helped secure.
