Sean Sears, PhD

Dr. Sean Sears was born and raised in southern Maine. He earned his BA in Psychology from Alfred University, an MA in Clinical Counseling from Boston College, and his PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University.

He completed his clinical internship at Nebraska Mental Health Centers, a series of community mental health clinics serving urban and rural areas surrounding Lincoln, Nebraska. Dr. Sears worked for just over five years at the Reception and Treatment Center (originally the Lincoln Correctional Center), a facility that served both as a maximum-security prison and as an intake facility for new inmates.

During that time his primary role was providing treatment and evaluation services for inmates identified as having the most significant mental health needs, as well as acting as a supervisor for doctoral level students working at the facility.

Most recently, he has begun his current position as a psychologist with Northern Light Acadia Hospital, with this move motivated both by a desire for new professional challenges and opportunities, as well as to be closer to his family.

His professional interests include the evaluation and treatment of ADHD, gender identity/expression, and the early detection/treatment of both anxiety and depression.

Outside of work Dr. Sears enjoys cartooning/animation, creative writing, video games, cooking, and spending time with his cat.
