Monir Musavi, MD

Monir Musavi, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist with more than 20 years of experience treating patients with mental health and substance use disorders. In addition to her current position at Acadia Hospital in Bangor, Maine, she has worked at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston, Bellevue Hospital in New York City, Riverview Psychiatric Center in Augusta, and Maine General Hospital in Augusta. Her practice philosophy is to deliver the highest quality care in a personalized and empathetic manner. She is committed to providing comprehensive psychiatric treatment focused on her patients' well-being and recovery.

Dr. Musavi received her Medical Degree from the Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, Iran. She completed psychiatry residency at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Tufts University School of Medicine, in 2003. She completed Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Certification from the Duke University Medical Center in 2007 and subsequently served as the Medical Director of ECT at Acadia Hospital for seven years. Dr. Musavi is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has subspecialty certification in Addiction Medicine.

Dr. Musavi is dedicated to medical education and mentorship. She has taught numerous medical trainees both at large university programs including New York University School of Medicine and Tufts University School of Medicine as well as at community-based residency programs. Her commitment to education has been recognized with multiple teaching awards from her colleagues and trainees. She has given various invited talks to her peers and trainees in emerging topics in psychiatry. She continues to be committed to supporting future generations of psychiatrists.
