John J. Campbell, III, MD, FANPA

Dr. John J. Campbell, III, MD is the Senior Physician Executive at Northern Light Acadia Hospital and is a nationally recognized leader in the field of Neuropsychiatry.

He obtained an Sc.B. in Biology from Brown University and his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He completed his adult psychiatry residency at Brown University where he was chief resident in his last year.

Dr. Campbell then completed a fellowship in Neuropsychiatry at Brown. He is a past president of the American Neuropsychiatric Association, where he is a Fellow, and has received their Gary J. Tucker MD Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in academic leadership, commitment, mentoring, and scholarship.

In addition to his leadership expertise, Dr. Campbell has received numerous psychiatry residency Teacher of the Year Awards from his time in the USAF, Henry Ford Health System, MaineHealth, and Tufts University.

He has published numerous book chapters and review articles in Neuropsychiatry and has mentored several psychiatry residents to successful careers in Neuropsychiatry.

His professional interests also include continuous quality improvement, development of high value behavioral health delivery systems, and healthcare leadership.

His outside interests include gardening, hiking, and listening to music on his vintage stereo system.
