Jason Shorey, DCoun, LCPC, CPHQ
Dr. Jason Shorey grew up in central Maine and first started working at Northern Light Acadia Hospital when he was 19 years old as a psychiatric technician for the inpatient services. He attended Husson University in Bangor, ME where he obtained his Bachelor’s in Psychology. He then received his Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Saint Michael’s College in Burlington, VT. Dr. Shorey then completed his Doctorate in Counseling from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary focusing on a faith-based biblical approach to mental health care.
Throughout his career Dr. Shorey has had the opportunity to provide mental health care across the full continuum of mental health services, from managing a pediatric community mental health clinic, group homes, inpatient services, to hospital administration. Dr. Shorey currently serves as the Director of Quality and High Reliability at Northern Light Acadia. Dr. Shorey is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and holds certifications as a Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
His interests in mental health include object-relations and attachment theory, biblical counseling, outcome measurement, and high reliability strategy and approaches to improving healthcare. Outside of the hospital Dr. Shorey enjoys adventuring with his wife and two young children. He is an avid outdoorsmen, runner, mountaineer, and road cyclist.
