David Prescott, PhD
Dr. David Prescott was born in raised in Lebanon, New Hampshire and started working in the mental health field as a psychiatric technician at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Music at Bowdoin College, and his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Psychology at the University of Nebraska.
After completing his predoctoral internship at Indiana University Medical Center, and working in Indiana for three years, he and his spouse Dr. Diana Prescott (also a clinical psychologist) moved to Maine in 1994 to work at the recently opened Acadia Hospital. After holding several clinical and administrative positions at the hospital Dr. Prescott accepted a full-time faculty position at Husson University in Bangor in 2011.
He has continued to provide treatment and psychological assessment at Acadia Hospital on a part time basis, with a focus on group psychotherapy. Dr. Prescott has significant experience in individual psychotherapy, currently at Hampden Psychological Consultation, a psychological consulting and treatment practice.
Dr. Prescott has three daughters, enjoys good coffee, classic rock, straight up classical music, and running. He completed his first marathon, the New York City Marathon in November, 2022.
