Northern Light Acadia Hospital CARES Packages are now available!
What is a CARES Package, and who is it for?
CARES stands for “Child-Adolescent Resource and Educational Series” and is the impetus behind the CARES Package.
The packages are free and designed to be used as an educational resource to educate adults who work with children and teens on suicide prevention and issues important to youth mental health.
Inside the box you will find everything you need to host educational and informational forums for staff, families, and community members at your own organizations. These resources are available to you to recreate as you need them. Most importantly, though, the included original facilitation guide is a step-by-step “how to” manual that supports you to lead conversations and training sessions for others at your organization.
This guide will walk you through how to use the seven CARES videos with groups of participants with the goal of increasing awareness of signs, symptoms, interventions, and resources available for each of the seven video topics. The guide also contains additional resources from our community partner, The Yellow Tulip Project, for stigma reduction and suicide prevention in young people.
