Visitation Guidelines

We are glad that you are choosing to visit your loved one or friend. The hospital can seem like a lonely place when you are a patient in a bed. Please understand that our first priority is the well-being of our patients.

Some guidelines to remember when visiting a patient in the hospital

  • Many of our patients’ tests, therapies and daily routines occur in the morning. In order to make the most of your time here, the best time to visit is during the afternoon and evening hours.
  • Please speak quietly and be respectful of the needs of the patients in the beds and rooms around you. You never know what someone might be dealing with right next door.
  • It is usually best to limit visitors to two at a time to respect the comfort of our patients. We encourage families to discuss scheduling their visits, in order not to overwhelm the patient by having many visitors all at one time.
  • While support of loved ones is important, we also ask that visitors respect the patient’s need for rest during their recovery.
  • Discuss any unusual visiting circumstances (working odd hours for example) with your patient’s nurse, so that the healthcare team might accommodate any special arrangements needed while keeping the patient’s best interest in mind.
