Timing during an emergency event is critical and there are simple things you can do ahead of time to make sure help gets to you as soon as possible. Michael St. Laurent, manager for EMS operations, Northern Light Medical Transport and Emergency Care, was recently on WABI-TV5 to share his top tips to help emergency crews find you fast as well as what to have on hand when help arrives.
One of the most helpful things anyone can do is make sure your house number is clearly marked from the road. He shares, “Usually once we are there finding your house is the next most difficult thing we encounter quite often. We use GPS units. GPS will get us relatively close, but sometimes they are off by a little bit. So, if the houses are clearly marked, or mailboxes are clearly marked with big high numbers on both sides it helps us tremendously.”
