As a new year draws near, many folks may be starting to think about New Year’s Resolutions or changes they may like to make to kick off the new year. One big change some people may be considering is quitting smoking. However, with tobacco’s addictive properties, quitting can be a lofty goal, but the health benefits are numerous. Dr. Charmaine Patel, medical director, Adult Inpatient Services at Northern Light Acadia Hospital, was invited on the WMTW news in Portland to discuss smoking cessation and tips for success and why options such as vaping and smokeless tobacco should not be considered as good alternatives.
