GHudson.jpgBrewer, ME (October 15, 2025) — R. Guy Hudson, MD assumed the role of president and CEO of Northern Light Health today. Dr. Hudson, an accomplished pediatric urologic surgeon, physician executive, and experienced CEO, succeeds Tim Dentry, who announced his retirement earlier this year.

Dr. Hudson shares that he looks forward to his new role and envisions Northern Light Health as strong, adaptable, and ready to meet the evolving needs of the people it serves. “When I looked at Northern Light Health, I immediately knew this was the right path. It has been rough after COVID, and a lot of health systems are having difficulties getting back up on their feet. I think Northern Light has a real opportunity to rise and keep moving forward.”

Dr. Hudson brings more than two decades of clinical and executive leadership experience. Previously, Dr. Hudson served as the CEO of Swedish Health System for six years, and the chief executive of Providence’s North Division, including Puget Sound and Alaska, for two years. Like Northern Light Health, the Providence North Division includes a mix of secular and Catholic facilities, cares for rural communities, and includes several critical access hospitals.

After concluding his Swedish and Providence leadership roles, Dr. Hudson returned to clinical practice in 2023 as a pediatric urologic surgeon in Boise, Idaho. In addition to his leadership in the United States, he has participated in international medical missions, providing care in countries including Guatemala and Uganda.

While there is much work to do in the days ahead, Dr. Hudson thinks there is a bright future ahead for Northern Light Health and the communities it serves. “What excites me is helping Northern Light Health take the best care of Mainers, and I believe in this health system’s ability to lead the way in healthcare for Maine and set the example for this, and future generations.”
