Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center President Departing
Date: 03/03/2023
(BREWER, MAINE – March 3, 2023) - Northern Light Health president and CEO Timothy Dentry has announced that Rand O’Leary, FACHE, president of Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, will be stepping down from that position. O’Leary, who came to Maine in 2019, will be returning to his home state of Michigan where he has been named president of Henry Ford Health Wyandotte Hospital. O’Leary’s homecoming to Michigan is a double feature since he served as a senior vice president and chief operating officer at Wyandotte from 2011 – 2014.
In making the announcement this week, Dentry wished O’Leary all the best. “I am grateful for Rand’s leadership and his commitment to our mission. His voice and intellect will be greatly missed, I am especially pleased for him though, that he has found a position in his native Michigan. Rand was deeply involved with everyone in moving Eastern Maine Medical Center forward as we continue to heal and regroup after serving Maine in the best way possible during the pandemic.”
O’Leary arrived at EMMC in 2019 and less than a year later shepherded the medical center through the coronavirus pandemic with a steadfast determination to keep patients, staff, and community safe. O’Leary served as a member of the Maine Hospital Association Board and on the MHA Public Policy Committee. He became a regular contributor at the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce Legislative Hot Stove sessions and was a key member of the Community Health Leadership Board, which advocates for healthcare in this region through the unique voices of partner organizations Community Health and Counseling, PCHC, St. Joseph Hospital, Northern Light Acadia Hospital, and the City of Bangor.
O’Leary’s last day at Northern Light Health will be Friday, March 31, 2023. Beginning April 1, Dentry will assume direct leader responsibility for EMMC, in addition to his role as Northern Light Health CEO; the search for the next EMMC president will begin immediately. “Having served in this capacity at EMMC in the past, I have a deep appreciation for the doctors, nurses, and all staff at the Medical Center and intend to be deeply involved with all in moving the Medical Center forward,” commented Dentry.
