News from Northern Light Health Board of Directors
The Northern Light Health Board of Directors held their annual meeting on June 12 in Brewer.
Barry McCrum, of Mars Hill, was elected to a third and final year term as board chair.
Elected to vice chair was Kathy Corey, owner, and chair of the board for Day’s Jewelers. Kathy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Maine. She previously served on the Northern Light Inland Hospital Board of Trustees as chair and was a regional representative to the Northern Light Health Board Finance Committee. Kathy is a trustee and past board chair of the Kennebec Community College Foundation and has been very active in several community-related committees and causes.
In addition to a new vice chair, the Northern Light Health Board of Directors is pleased to introduce the following three new members.
John Ryan, Esq., general counsel and corporate secretary to The Jackson Laboratory, is a trusted and experienced advisor to CEOs, executive teams, and boards of directors. John began his legal career as an assistant district attorney at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. Before joining The Jackson Laboratory, he served as president and CEO of Unilife Corporation and was a partner at the Duane Morris law firm. John held senior roles at the Aramark Corporation, including senior vice president and deputy general counsel. He is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Law and New York University and resides with his wife in Northeast Harbor, Maine.
David Ahola, MD, board-certified radiologist with Spectrum Health Care Partners in Bangor, has lived and worked in Maine since 1997, following his residency at Duke University Medical Center and his fellowship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Dr. Ahola currently serves as chief of Imaging for Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. He provides consultations and is a member of the courtesy staff for hospitals throughout the state, including several Northern Light Health hospitals. Dr. Ahola and his wife Brigitte are the proud parents of three children, Catherine, Madeline, and Samuel.
Jay Reynolds, MD, vice president, and senior physician executive, Northern Light AR Gould Hospital, is stepping in to fulfill a three-year rotating term as a member organiztion physician leader representative on the Northern Light Health board. Prior to his current role, he was vice president of Medical Affairs at AR Gould Hospital. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Johns Hopkins University and his doctorate in medicine at the University of Vermont. Dr. Reynolds is a member of the Maine Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Maine Academy of Family Physicians.
Directors who were re-elected to a successive term included
Marianne Lynch, Esq., of Bangor and Michael McInnis of Hampden, each for a third term, as well as Peter St. John of Winterville for a second term.
The board thanked the following Directors for their service
Michael Pancoe, MD, concluded his twelfth year of service and final term on the board. Dr. Pancoe joined the board in 2007 already well acquainted with our System and EMMC, as a highly regarded senior physician and leader, and has been an outspoken advocate for providers and patients alike in the board room.Dr. Pancoe served on several board committees during his tenure, including as the inaugural Chair of the Investment Committee.
Gavin Ducker, MD, completed his three year rotating term of service as a member organization physician leader, and as Northern Light Inland Hospital’s vice president and senior physician executive. He has been an ardent champion for patient care and quality during his tenure on the board.
